Trevor is Rory Gilmore's classmate in her freshman year English class at Yale and the first guy she went on a date with after she broke up with Jess Mariano. In their sophomore year, he went to Barcelona to study.

Trevor comes off as a nice enough guy, if not incredibly perceptive, but is also the first guy Rory has ever gone on a date with not knowing each other very well first. Trevor also seems a bit unsure of how to go about their date, so in a way they seem to be in the same boat.

Unlike Rory's big relationships, such as Jess and Logan, she and Trevor don't seem to have that much in common, especially not the exchange of ideas or verbal sparing which are respective traits of Rory's two aforementioned romance
