- She's having sex, Lorelai. She's having sex under my roof. I paid $40,000 to redecorate her sex house. I bought her her sex mattress, her sex box springs. I provided everything she needs to waste her life

The Pool House is a refurbished residence on Gilmore Girls, an annex to the Gilmore Mansion in Hartford, Connecticut.
Story[]
Richard moves into the pool house when he and Emily separate in the spring of 2004. Lorelai pokes fun at the fact that he hasn't really moved out as he is still on the premises, which neither Richard nor Emily agree with. Richard dislikes staying in the pool house, but likely felt that Emily should have the house. It's also an indicator of their mutual reluctance to follow through with a proper separation despite having fallen out. Richard employs a valet to do various tasks around the house, akin to the tasks the maids Emily employs in the main house undertake. A stray dog stays in the pool house with Richard for a while when it suddenly appears on the property one snowy day. Richard leaves the pool house as he and Emily reunite in the early winter of 2005.
A few months later, in May 2005, Rory moves into the pool house after dropping out of Yale. Emily redecorates it in a '60s aesthetic, which Rory seems to like.
