- You finally found a way to fill September
- —Lorelai to Taylor
The End-of-Summer Madness Festival is a festival on Gilmore Girls, held in Stars Hollow, Connecticut.
About[]
The festival is held for the first time in September 2002. It is a festival in the town square, with activities and entertainment, such as having your picture taken in a funny cardboard cutout or looking through a telescope. Miss Patty's School of Ballet has kids performing tap dancing next to the gazebo, where a doowop choir is performing the 1963 song "Those Lazy-Hazy-Crazy Days of Summer".
Story[]
Taylor Doose gets the idea for the festival as a tourism revenue stream, a last squeeze of the summer buck. He gets a 'band from New York', which turns out to be a doowop choir. Rory returns from her summer away in Washington D.C. with Paris and looks around to find Jess. She spots him making out with a blonde girl against a tree and is upset to see Jess with another girl despite still being with Dean. Lorelai gets frustrated by Rory's carelessness and calls her out on it, resulting in Lorelai getting annoyed at the doowop choir. Dean surprises Rory by coming back early and joining her at the festival.
Quotes[]
- I did not put the word madness in the title for nothing. This place is gonna be crazy, wild! Food, games, we've even got a band coming all the way from New York!
