Bill works at the Yale Daily News. When Paris Geller becomes too demanding, causing everyone but Rory Gilmore to quit the paper, Bill stays behind to watch the paper fail due to Paris. He later hands Rory the Wall Street Journal to show her an article where Mitchum Huntzberger insinuated that his giving Rory her first internship led to her being the editor of the Yale Daily News. When Rory was done as editor-in-chief of the paper, Bill succeeded her in the position.
